"No Need for Pods"

Film: Invaders from Mars (1953)

Alias: None

Type: Alien

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: The Martians are slightly taller than an average human, though the leader is no bigger than a microwave.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: What better way to conquer Earth than to take control of the locals and not tell anybody? It's rather genius, so these odd-looking Martians had the right idea.

History: Things aren't really looking up for young David MacLean. An unidentified flying object landed not too far from his house, his family and friends are acting cold and uncharacteristic, and he feels like the only one not suspecting that something wicked is at fault. Thankfully, the military catches on, and soon, it's a race against time before an army of blind Martians, led by their silent central intelligence, can get their hands on our most destructive weapons.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: The Martians are ultimately thwarted when their base is blown up, but hey, it was all David's dream! Or is it a foreshadowing of things to come? That glowing thing coming over the hill could attest to that...

Powers/Abilities: The Martians are controlled via hivemind by the central intelligence. Their technology includes standard ray guns and crystal-like microchips that they implant into humans to control them from afar. If something goes wrong, they can detonate the microchip, killing the host.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-There's nothing scarier than the notion that a family member, a friend, or whatnot could actually be an unwilling alien spy. Now if only the Martian foot-soldiers didn't look so...ridiculously odd with those slit eyes. The central intelligence is an oddball, but it just keeps staring with a look of disappointment.

Trivia: -Ironically, this film was based on a story said to have been inspired by the author's own dreams.

-This film was also allegedly rushed into theatres to compete with a similar alien invasion movie, "War of the Worlds".

Stand tall. For your end comes soon...

What are those...things in the upper right corner? White Martians?

Quite a dynamic entry.

"Just pretend you're at the dentist."
Why is that aimed at the lady? Answers, please.

CRAP! THEY UPGRADED!

For once, the blind are king.

On second thought, keep them bald.

"Not listening..."
Just imagine if said wizard was disabled and the version from 'Wicked' at the same time.

And now, the leader is being just plain rude.

Not as much as a one-sided fight as we thought.

"So...how did we design this ship without eyes?"
